Chiesa di San Giovanni

Progetto Finanziato dall'Unione Europea

The Church of St. John is mentioned in the chronicles of the time as early as the 13th century, when the Cassinese monk Anselm Caplet mentions an Ecclesia s. Iohannis.

The Church of St. John was situated between the Convent of the Sisters of St. Scholastica and the complex of the villa of Caius Fucius Pinchera.

The new church was built around 1962, designed by Engineer Ignazio Breccia Fratadocchi.

The mosaic behind the altar is the work of Don Francesco Vignanelli and was executed by Prof. Franco D'urso.

Paul VI visited this church on 24 October 1964 and donated a chalice.
