Chiesa di S. Scolastica

The pre-war Church of St Scholastica stood on the same site as today, attached to the monastery of the Benedictine nuns.

Initially it was only a chapel for the nuns with an entrance in Via del Foro, but was later enlarged by Abbot Gregorio Diamare and opened to the faithful.

The present church was rebuilt to a design by architect Giuseppe Breccia Fratadocchi in the early 1950s.  In recent times, new changes have been made to the interior of the building, designed by the architect Giuseppe Picano, including a new altar, consecrated by Abbot Bernardo D'Onorio.
